Hi,
£140 seems a good price for a Gas/No Gas MIG Welder with the following specifications:
    25-130 amps
    Turbo fan cooled
    6 output power settings
    Direct current
    Thermostatic protection
Suitable for flux welding wire – no gas welding
    Usable electrodes 0.6/0.9mm diameter
    Rated voltage: 230V/50Hz

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/2867_9841.htm

Its specifcations seem similar to that of the Clarke MIG130EN Turbo 'No-Gas' MIG Welder which Machine Mart sell for £229.98

What do think?...will it be any good?

Cheers.

It all depends on how much it will be used.

Make sure it will take at least the 5kg reel. Some smaller welders only take the 0.8 Kg reels which cost a lot more (per Kg).

The No-gas wire costs A LOT more than the standard wire, even after you take into cosideration that you don't have to buy gas. You will NEVER see a professional welder using no gas wire.

The cheapest welders and no gas welders are also a bit more difficult to get a good, strong, cosmetically acceptable weld with.

Of course if you will only use it to repair the odd item or make a bracket once every 6 months a cheap no gas may be the one for you.

Hi,
I've done a bit of searching & it seems that Power Craft welders (Aldi) are made by Omega Wolf & apparently they aren't regarded as being very good.

I imagine it depends what you want / need from a welder as you say if its just to make the odd bracket or something then maybe this would be ok.

Cheers.
