I've just moved into a new home. It's very old and needs lots of work!

We have no hot water, but we do have gas and an electric shower.

We have a water tank in the loft which has a tap and a tap downstairs, next to the bathroom.

I wrote this when the gasman called me before we moved in:

"If there's water above tank in the spare room, turn the stop cock off in the loft, because that's the one that links to the water tank in the corner of the loft (a small one, above the storage/tank cupboard in the bedroom)." But it's all confusing to me.

How do we get hot water, please?

Many thanks.

I am not a plumber or heating engineer:

Have you turned the boiler on? or have you got an immersion heater?

Pictures may help. See my signature.

Fret not, a forum is a collection of opinions. Above, are mine.

Which is correct? Metre or Meter? Click the link to find out more.

Working on anything electrical? have you got a multi meter? why not? Would you hit a nail with a shoe?

If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Much more information needed.

What is the make/model of your boiler ? do you have a copper cylinder that stores hot water ??

When you turn on the hot tap do you get cold water or no water at all ?
