my set up is every thing works off the aeriel lead from aeriel to the center to the videos tvs now freeview boxes then back out again to all tvs in the house

with videos in sequence they have to be at least plugged in and on standby but i have found with freeview boxes they often have to be on rather than standby for the signal to pass through them
in one instance on a spur before any other bits off equipment on a weak signal day [during changeover]i normally turn the front room tv video freeview box off at the wall but had to leave the freeview box on to get as signal

strange :dunno:

any way the point i am making is just keep this in mind if you have problems with multiple machines

Some splitters have resistors in them (they look like mini sausages with a bit of wire either end for the uneducated)

the main problem is in the daisy chain
the spur is back fed possibly as the set up is f.v.box video/dvd recorder scart to tv with the central setup back to the tv on the coax to the aeriel socket so in that extent the spur could be in the loop

if its a signal problem I would discount anything scart onward but to be honest (I have been thinking about this) is instead of messing round with coax perhaps put a small home network in ready for internet TV but that when its rolled etc but it will happen

it seems to be completely random so swapped tuner for another and its fine now
we are having work for the changeover done so this may just be tipping a marginal signals over the edge :dunno:
i know the querks off the set up so live with it
yes i may in the future go for data cabeling but that would be after the introduction off fibre optics next year for the broadband

Thing with disribution via RF is the co-channel interference problems - usually requiring band pass/band stop filters to eliminate it and the effects it causes. Equalising the RF levels would help but unless you know how to make pi-filters at nearly GHz frequencies (and also know the exact lengths and co-efficients of the coax being used) I reckon it's more trouble than it's worth.

A centrally located RF distribution would be far simpler.

Or get a 'Slingbox' and go 'modern' (sorry... )

yeh one of those please :dunno: :dunno: :huray:
yes prepaired to enter the last century no probs
or even the present
what is the likely cost and disruption ?
if more than say £200 materials then present will do as it works fine with a bit off loss ocassionaly
