We just installed a satellite dish and receiver from Maplins to get Freesat, not interested in anything else. We can't get Channel 5 though.
It only has one LNB on it but we're wondering about upgrading to enable us to have two more televisions on it. If we got a second hand Sky box with card can we use the set up we have, are the fittings compatible?

Thanks for that! The kids have it in there room and they're watching CBBC. Looks like it'd be better to hang fire and buy a receiver/ LNB package from Maplins then.
Is there any way that you can delete the unwanted channels like shopping/ US chat shows and religious channels?

that will be down to the individual boxes - I would think any box made in the last few years would have the ability to delete channels and create favourites.
I would think with a Freesat box you may have loads of channels listed that are actually subscription only and you would want to get rid of?

I've not read the instructions yet. My oh was in charge of the remote  so I only saw the ones I'd cut out.

I have a freesat setup, as soon as I can find a piece of scaffold tube to knock into the ground to fix the dish to. A quad LNB will allow you to feed 3 other sets, you'll have to put in 3 extra downleads, but the cable isn't expensive.

Thanks for that. My two have been watching Doctor Who, so are very pleased already. It's in their room as it's the nearest tv to the dish. My oh has to sort the cable in the roof tomorrow, so I may get to see something.
We got the £59 kit from Maplins, it does the job so far. They do a 2 X receiver, quad LNB package for £120, not sure if that's worth getting.

Just get a quad LNB and fit it to your existing dish. Shop around, they aren't expensive now, Maplin is not always the best place on price. Keep your old LNB, it's good to have a spare, LNBs do fail quite often.

Can you use any satellite receiver with the Fortec Star satellite dish that we have? The satellite kit that we got from Maplins is great, it works and has enabled us to see the digital tv that we couldn't get with the aerial.
I think we need another receiver but I'm not paying full whack for one looking at the prices on Ebay. I need advice from someone who knows before I commit to buy!
