We have a project converting a 3 storey house into 5 'flatlets' (shared entrance) to be managed by a lettings agency. We have been offered free external wall insulation provided the entire house is fueled by electricity only

which puts a big spanner in the works...
in so much as 5 flats running 5 hobs and 5 ovens, not to mention kettles and power showers puts it well over a single phase supply...
the heating will/could be done by the rointe economy 7 storage heaters which do work well and a cheap as chips to run, weve installed them in a 2 storey house 2 years ago and the bills are tiny.

question is, does anyone know about or have any experience of this strange requirement for the ewi grant? Weve thought about lpg hobs and electric single ovens but were not sure if this would still qualify? any ideas, tips, experience to offer?

all i know is, the stipulation is the house must be all electric. Why? im lead to believe its about not using natural gas (something to do with russia?) so why not lpg?

All my advice should be taken with a rather large pinch of salt, all the gear, absolutely no idea whatsoever ;)
