Yip, after ripping down a false ceiling and the original ceiling, putting up a new ceiling, getting it plastered, I managed to put my foot through it whilst working in the room above, not my finest hour and currently consoling myself with a bottle of jack daniels to kill the pain and the memory.

So, will I be able to cut the damaged area out and put up a patch (approx 2 ft square), plaster it, paint it and will it blend in with the existing ceiling or will I never be able to make it look right without having the whole ceiling skimmed ?

Cheers, John

Not as bad as it seems, but you will need to cut back to a joist and probably fit a couple of noggins in to make sure the new and the old bits are supported. Tape it up and skim it over.

And get some floorboards down.

I had a single floor board up due to trying to find were some water was coming in (unsuccessfully I may add lol) and I couldn't get a replacement floor board so was hanging off to get some ply wood to use as a replacement, been quite a few weeks like this and got completely complacent, never did I imagine that I would be able to fit down the gap, never mind go right through the gap and through my nice new ceiling below, cannae believe I was soo dumb, not me, I'm far too smart to do something so stupid lol I also can't believe I took two days off my work to do something that has probably put me 3 days behind, thoroughly peeved off.

Cheers, John
