Im in the process of fitting 7 spotlights in my bedroom , they are 240v so no transformers , ive drilled all the holes for the spotlights and now just need to wire them all up , im able to get easy access above the ceiling in my loft so this will help me , ive got the new cable and junction boxes for each spotlight , im just unsure how to start the wiring off as my current single standard ceiling light that is there has 3 main wires ( grey wire ) going into it , all these 3 wires have a live , neutral and earth , I just thought there would only be one why 3 of them ???

Do I just join the 3 lives together in the junction box along with the 3 neutrals together then the 3 earth together and go from there

Only if you like loud bangs and a house in darkness....

From the relevant ceiling rose you will see that the permanent lives (RED) are all connected together, 2 of the BLACK wires will also be joined together. the third black is the SWITCHED LIVE

So you'll need to replicate these connections in a junction box, then take a connection from your switched live and neutral to the downlights..in a daisy chain fashion..

Thanks mate ive just looked and noticed the switch live

so I join all the 3 red ( live ) wires together in one connection in the junction box

2 neutral ( black ) wires together , these join with the neutral on the flexi cable going to the spotlight

join the switch live with the live wire on the flexi cable going to the spotlight

what do I do with the earth just use a block connector and connect them together

Does above look okay
