The basing is cracked on our toilet bowl. I need to fit a new toilet, what do I have to look for when purchasing a new toilet and what are the problems I will encounter.
Here is the toilet that we currently have the water feed comes into the cistern on the top right. Is it best to fit a similar one as I do not want to be moving pipes around.
Also how do I know the size of the connector to the waste pipe

The height from floor to mid waste pipe on the bowl is around 7.5 inches

Are you looking to fit a similar pan or are you looking to fit a close coupled unit and replace the cistern as well? If you did that you will have to check that there are tiles behind the existing cistern and that it has not been tiled around other wise you are in for a lot more remedial.

Was going to replace the cistern and bowl. There are tiles around the cistern but I could box the cistern in and leave a removable shelf on top for inspection.
Just not sure what to buy is there anything I need to look out for when buying a replacement

Water inlet is top left

Most close coupled units have a bottom entry feed for the water and the overflow pipe is now part of the flush unit. Any overflow goes straight into the pan so that saves a bit of work. Easy enough to rework the plumbing with pushfit type fittings. Splash out on a new Multikwick http://www.multikwik.com/catalogue/14/w ... ctors.html pan connector as once an old one is disturbed they always leak after.
