Hi
I am trying to source fire doors in the following size:
2040x 726x 40. All the fire doors I can find so far seem are 44 w. Can anyone help please with where to source these from?Thanks in advance

The British standard for fire doors is 44mm thick for an FD30 and 54mm thick for a FD60, so I believe that is why you can't find one that is only 40mm thick, but don't forget you should also use the correct door frame and door furniture.

TBH you will struggle to find off the shelf timber material doors in thicknesses other than 44, 54 or 64mm although a few specialist manufacturers do make door blanks in alternative thicknesses for retro fits. It may be worth tryin a specialist such as Enfield Doors or Safelincs. The reason for the dearth of thicknesses is because the manufacturers have to put each door through a fire test where a door is burned under controlled conditions to physically test its; fire resistance. It is generally cheaper to move stop laths (where applied - FD30 only) or to remove and rework existing rebated casings and then replace them. Depending on the circumstances existing doors can sometimes be uprated using a combination of intumescent paint coatings and specialised intumescent seal strips such as those manufacturd by Intergraph, etc. Subject to location, insurance requirements and fire officer/BCO requirements this may be a route worth considering. Be aware, though, that the newest regulations (about 2 years old, I understand) also require a gap of between 2 and 4mm around 3 sides of the frame and of no more than 3mm across the bottom of the frame (in the case of FD60 doors), all measured at a minimum of 3 points. This can be all but impossible to achieve on uneven floors, even if a fire-rated drop seal is retro-fitted to the bottom of the doors. Looks like screeders and florers are going to have to up their game quite considerably in the future!

In terms of your door casings, if they are to meet the regs you'll need to pull the architraves off, pack any voids between the frame and the masonry with mineral wool (fire foam is apparently no longer acceptable in many cases) then add a 10mm layer of intumescent fire caulk between the mineral wool and the face of the frame. Locks, keeps and other ironmongery embedded inside the door must also be removed, wrapped in intumescent "paper" and replaced so as to ensure that there is no metal to timber contact between the ironmongery and the door structure during a fire.

Ive just had to sit through a 1 day training and induction course on the subject of fire doors to be allowed onto a job where we are dealing with just this ptoblem - uprating over 1000 doors to meet the current regs. In the aftermath of Grenfell this, I'm sure, will become a lot more common, at least on commercial jobs. I can already tell you that getting existing doors, even those only fitted in a new build less than 10 years ago, is a major PIA. It is all getting a little complicated, especially as there is another new requirement (currently only on big jobs) for fire door work to be checked and approved by an independant fire inspector - a bit like FENSA on windows.
