My grandad used to be a plasterer. He had cancer of the eye 28 years ago and lost one eye. Hes 78.

He is adamant on helping me with my first house, by plastering :?

He skimmed a wall yesterday (onto old plaster, in decent condition) and it looks better than I thought it would being done by a 78 year old with one eye! There are a few bits where its not quite as smooth as Id like. What can I rub it down slightly with? The likes of wet and dry will surely clog up straight away?

Mist coat it first because the finish is usually smoother than the paint, then use 120grit sandpaper and a block to take off the rough, and easifill to make up any dips.

Most of plastering is trowel control and timing. The hardest bit for your grandad is probably getting on and off the ladder.
