Hi. I have been a bit gung ho with my plaster board socket cutting. Now that the plasterer has skimmed up the walls and now that the sparky has put on the sockets I have a few gaps between the sockets and the plaster.

Anybody got any suggestions regarding the best way to fill these before painting?

Thanks

Hi Edz,

I would turn off the electric then undo the pattress and the metal box behind then i would gripfill some small strips of plasterboard around socket opening (sticking them to the back of the plasterboard) then refit the metal box and fill upto the box with either filler or plaster this will give it better support and will not crack or fall out or you could use switch surrounds which will mask the holes.
Hope this helps

Thanks for that. To be honest I was looking for a quicker fix. Most of the gaps are 5mm wide max and I had hoped to squidge a bit of filler in, flush it up and paint.

That is if there is a suitable filler out there for that purpose. I haven't got too many sockets to do but I am against the clock a bit.

Hi Edz,

You could use some dri-wall adhesive as this sticks like s$#t to blanket then use some lightweight filler over the top to smooth.
