It's a good idea to wet the chase with a garden sprayer then fill the chase with bonding, once the bonding has gone hard then give it a good scrape with an old trowel to get it recessed slightly further and to knock off any slightly curl up edges, then go straight on with your easi fill and sand once completely dry.
If you're in a hurry then add a bit of cement into the bonding coat. |

i like it when electricians try to fill a chase with some out of date board finish that they keep in a carrier bag in their car.
why bother? |

When I had my kitchen installed they also fitted a new ring main. Where they chased along the wall from CU to kitchen (they couldn't be as*ed to follow the original, discrete cabling!) they filled in with whatever was available but also smothed it out over the wallpaper
I've been filling in after a recent re-wire of my sockets. All I've done is to use a couple of layers of Polyfilla and sanded down the surface - a little messy but a good going over with the hoover soon sorted the mess out. I've just put lining paper up and you can't tell where the wall was chased out |

The one big disadvantage with Easi fill is the dust, it gets everywhere!
A few decorators I know have the Festool sander with extraction, now that is a great bit of kit |
