Does anybody have opinions on who does the best fibre broadband packages not Virgin though currently not in my area , the two i've seen are EE and Plusnet but all the options are confusing. Dont need super fast 40mb would be OK better than the 5mb i'm currently on .

I'm using Plusnet (feel free to use me as a refferal code ) and I've been really impressed with the speed and customer service on the one occasion I needed it.

They use the BT infrastructure (like most who use the wholesale network for FTTC and FTTP services) and I've not had any issues to report yet, other than one - which they made everyone aware of and was fixed quickly.

I'm about 350M from the cabinet and I've constantly got my full speed, like now:

I've just saw on ISPReview that they are doing a 40mb down 20up with a 6month discount. Check the upload of anyone that you compare it with though, it seems VERY few if ANY are doing 20mb upload!!!! If you do anything like sending files, uploading youtube videos, etc then you'll find it worth every penny!

I work at home a lot, so a GOOD connection (not fast) is important to me. I use VOIP a lot and lots of VPN services. I had problems for YEARS with Virgin, but there was zero interest - they just understood speed, not latency or routing. Plusnet have a forum where they actually answer more technical enquires like that, plus give customer support (have a look - they are open). Since being on Plusnet and FTTC, I've not had a bad phone call.

Two thumbs up from me, I'd have to seriously be swayed to move now......
