Bloody Pedestrians, Some teenage girl on her mobile just jumped out on the crossing infront of the bloke before me making him slam the anchors on and me ending up in his arse so to speak causing me to dent his bumper beyond repair and me the same and splitting my radiator. Haver exchanged details and got the pedestrians details too just wondered if anyone knew where i stand now with the insurance side of things as it was not my fault or the bloe in fronts fault but the stupid girls. Seems wrong we end up paying the costs for something beyond both our controls.

Nick

Seems wrong when he had a nissan micra weighing no more than i crows fart and i have a 2-3 ton van , to be able to stop in time i would have had to have about fifteen cars lengths to be able to have stopped on a dime instead of the two i was given .

Oh well such is life

If the damage is limited to his bumper, your bumper, and your radiator, you might be better off biting the bullet and paying for the repairs yourself.

What the insurance companies don't know, you can't lose you no claims over. Wink

was it a normal crossing with flashing yellow globes!!!!

did the car in front stop before the crossing !!!

what age was the child!!!

did the childs movements suggest she may be crossing the road!!!

i do simpethise if the child has run out without pausing

but in general you are supposed to anticipate what other road user may do and this includes that a child may no use the foot crossing correctly

remember if you are outside the studs you must stop for anyone crossing scratch

i am afraid the only person that deprived you off enough room to stop was yourself Crying

The crossing was a full on zebra with traffic lights , we had the right of way and she just jumped out infront of the bloke infront of me, she was old enough to know better must have been at least 16 -18 the bloke in front was not happy with her , called her a few names, all she said was i thought it was green !!! well if she had not been on her bloody mobile she would have probably paid more attention. No way am i going to bite the bullet and pay for his repairs as well as mine prob cost me over a bloody grand cannot afford that so will have to go through the insurance.

End of the day, the guy in front of you could have a claim against her as he could say she could have caused him to crash and damage his car.

Your only possible recourse is against him I reckon. But he was performing an emergency stop and you were too close to him.

Sorry!

actually, depending on who you are insured with you might lose ALL of your NCD.

i had an accident over 5 years ago in my van. it was my 1st accident ever and the regulator had seized ont he back breaks unkown to me. even though i had left plenty of stopping distance for normal breaks, working on just the front i careered straight into the car infront which shunted him into the one infront of him. i had to cough up for the car i hit but that was all (my insurance did i mean) but the gits said..read our small print, commercial policies loses all NCD and so after 20+ years of sound driving i lost the lot in one go. insurance went from £200 - £750 in the next pricing.
