i read a lot too just working through the wheel of time series by robert jordan, nothing wrong with films adds a visual element that books cant, just looking through my film collection and spotted more good films : human traffic, hot fuzz, con air, silence of the lambs, platoon, 300, the matrix, jerry maguire the list goes on..... :thumbleft:

A great book can make a mediocre movie - I've never been impressed by any book/movie translation - they always seem to disappoint in some way.

In no particular order though......

Dial 'M' for Murder (confessing to having a huge crush on Grace Kelly so perhaps this is not a 'classic')
Shawshank Redemption
2001 a Space Odyssey
Lord of the Rings
Alien

Seems to be very popular but it's got to be Shawshank for me too - shame it was not based on fact. It ended too soon, I'd have liked to have seen a sequel......wonder what they did with that boat?

Escape from Sobibor - It's a shame this was based on fact.

Silence of the Lambs - A real classic

The Great Escape - wonder if it will be shown at Christmas 2045?
