Not really a lighting question per se so think this is the right forum......

OK.

Am experienced at household wiring but have never wired any external circuits before so would like some info to avoid any problems.

Am planning to wire two external lights in yard with internal switch, will take feed off internal lighint circuit, can do this ok but need to know recomendations for the external part of the circuit.

So far I intend to use the black 20mm PVC conduit (rigid shock proof) to house external wiring with bog standard 1.5mm cable (all conduits will be at least 2.5m from ground and I think black conduit is UPV resistant). I need to know what I should use for the internal/external juntions and any external juntion boxes.

I see 2/3 way junction boxes but am not sure these are suitable for actualy housing junctions/terminals etc.... Should I buy specifix junction boxes/terminals and if so for this kind of use what IP ratnig shoudl I be using.

Also, for connection conduit, bends etc.. what gromits do I need and is there anyhting else I should eb awrae of.

Thanks!

(also, who's moved the keys on this keyboard.... :) )

The conduit junction boxes shown here (scroll down on page) will do fine they come with a rubber gasket for the cover -

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Conduit_Pvc_Index/20mm_Conduit_and_Fittings_Black/index.html

As for all junctions use the glue -

You can use a normal pipe bender to create bends if you wish, keeps the integrity or use the separate bends shown.

Use proper saddles to hold down the conduit and allow a little for expansion and contraction in bends and junction boxes.

i would be interested in seeing what type of lights you were considering using. this may make a difference on how you supply them.
