You probably can yes, but you need to make sure you know what you are doing with regards to BS 5839 which is the code of practice for installing fire detection sytsems. the most important thing to find out is what sort of sytem you have either analogue addressabe or conventional. The loading of the sounders may also have a bearing, you need to make sure the panel provides enough output current to supply your new bell also. Is the sytem maintined by anybody? If so i recommend you get them onbopard , and allow them to commison the devices that you add, you just do the donkey work and mount everything new then leave the final connections to them, after all it is their sytem.
And do not forget that depending on the age of the sytem you may have mains voltage cables used for the sounders and detectors. On an adressable system you might have loop powered sounders or conventioanal sounders, depends on system design. If conventional you will have two circuits a sounder and a detector, these are normally radials so keep them sepperate and do not mix them. You also need to match the sound emmitted by the existing sounders, if their bells install a bell, if their sounders install a matching sounder.
Any more help give us a shout

Nick

Thanks for the reply Nick.

The exsisting system is maintained by the the firm i am currently working for ,the contracts manager took me to the job and said this is what he wanted me to do ,also got to install 2 new cooker points which is type of work i am used to doing , i have'nt been with them long and not done too much breaking into exsisting alarm systems did'nt really want to show my inexperience to him (i know this is brain dead of me, should have been up front about it to him) ,so if he as told me to do it this way then i would have thought it was applicable to install the new points this way.

If you have been told by him how to do it then do it his way, as long as he gives you the correct equipment to fit it should be fine, as for the dtectors, all you need to be aware of is when disconnecting from the head your connecting the new cables into then make sure you know which is the IN and which is the OUT and make sure you follow the instructions on re-connecting them. You will probably have to make an earth connection to the existing detectors back box as unless the pyro is terminated using earth tail pots it will be using the sheath as its earth path.
