I'll b honest w/ u, me is new n 2 this. I'm n the construction almost year n a half.
B4 that I've used 2 work n the restaurants: mngr n waiter (cruise ships, NY and etc..), thats y I came n London 2 make a living w/ it.
BUT!
Here this wasn't an option 4 me, the wages in the F&B r sh*t. I had enough 4 2 yrs w/ bounced cheques, long hrs n just promises.
Had few jobs n the last hope 4 me was Harrods, but the only thing they could offer me was their name on my CV in the xperience tab n 6.50/h.
Me answer 2 that was that my 15yrs xperience n CV r so good that don't need their name in it n told them BYE BYE.
I have 3 kids n the living wage is not enough 2 me either.
So I've decided 2 give it a try.
Called an agency n told them that me is very good worker n I don't work 4 the minimum, after few phone calls they offered me 8.20 as a labourer even more then I was earning n the restaurants. 4 months I was looking what the other trades do n how they do it, then I've got a job 4 a month as a handyman 10/h, bought more tools n from year as a carpenter 130-190 daily depending on the hours.
4 sure me is not the best 1, but i want my best 2 get better n learn from the mistakes I do.
I really like this job!
So far have most of the 18v Makita tools like: impact, cordless, hammer drill, circular saw and passlode brad gun n many more small fancy things, don't like to buy cheap crap. All together around 2000 quid, but need 2 invest 2000 more 4 the rest.
The job is very interesting n I'm enjoying it @ %100.
That's all folks n when u r buying tools, don't forget 2 ask 4 cheaper price, all the shops can price match with ebay n other retailers n u always can get ur tools cheaper, that's the best thing what I've learned in the restaurants n is useful here.
