Hi i have an old leather handle estwing hammer its handle has seen better days,i want to re tape over the leather handle, what tape do you think might do the job.

Are the bits of leather missing? If not, rub it down and re-varnish it. I'm only on my second Estwing since age 16, I'm 44 now (although it doesn't get used as much these days).

Thanks for the info simon but the handle is a bit rough thats why i want to retape it with something more smooth,you now hands that do dishes.

Hi Diyguys,

Most repairs I've seen done to Estwings is electrical tape. Have you thought of wearing gloves to protect your germans?

Look for a product called My grips or Speed grips from Fastcap, it's a mouldable grip for hammers or any other hand shaped grips that you wanr personalised.

Sports shop and buy some badminton handle racket tape, enough on for several hammers, and your back swing will be improved Laughing
