Does anyone have any good suggestions regarding a flap on situation when say for instance, a pipe bursts in the house or even worse, the main water feed stop tap springs a very fast leak just under the tap itself.
I was thinking about this the other day in bed and now i'm worried for some reason.
Would it be possible to cut the pipe very quick and stick a quick fit stop end on the pipe - or would the pressure be too much to do this ?

I think I've seen burst repair kits on the plumbing aisle of our local B & Q. _________________ Never be afraid to ask, that's how we learn. |

| Cheers - I think that's the best option (external stop tap) Just didn't want the neighbours complaining if it's turned off. Will get a tool for a store it safe. |

This is almost impossible with mains pressure water.
What you can do is use a push fit isolating valve, make sure it is in the open position and push this onto the pipe and then when it is firmly fitted close the valve. You will get soaked doing it, but it is possible.
Locating the outside stop tap is the best idea and check it regularly to make sure it turns on and off, never open it completely- always close it back half a turn when fully open or it may sieze up. Havinf a stop tap key handy is also a good idea! _________________ DIY | DIY Video |
