We've got two ovens (instead of a double oven) and one of them has stopped working. They are both the same model - the Terim T06600SS.

There is no heat/fan/light or anything - it seems like it's just not getting any power. The element blew last year but then the fan and light still worked so I don't think it's that.

I've taken it out of its unit and replaced the fuse on the plug at the back (which did seem to have blown), but it still doesn't work.

There's also a big red switch at the wall which turns off power to both ovens and the extractor fan. There's a fuse thing in the wall next to it but I've checked that fuse and it seems OK.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Cheers

Pete

did you try a known working item in the socket its plugged into
also plug that oven into another known working socket

and by known working i mean you tried it before unplugging it in the other socket a few second before

I've tried plugging the oven into another socket and it didn't make any difference.

I've not tried plugging anything else into the socket the oven was using as it's a real bitch to get to!

The wife has just mentioned that she was using the oven when it went - apparently she heard it make bang and then it went off. This suggests it might have been the element blowing (even though it wasn't even a year old), but why would it still not come back on? Last time when the element blew the oven fan and light still came on, it just produced no heat. This time there's nothing.

Sorry, just done a quick google of that model, nothing except your threads on other forums.

Firstly, something has caused the fuse to blow (Short/electrical failure)

Secondly are there any indications of power to the oven (Lights/clock etc)

No the lights, fan etc do not work so I don't think any power is getting to it.

the reason i suggest another item in the socket is in case the socket or connected wiring may have been damaged
its easy to make assumptions and miss a double fault

Just seen similar ? from Big-All, but worth a post:-
Clear up something, the other oven and hood are still working from the same supply switch?
If not, have you checked your fuse box/consumer unit?
If the short was still present the new fuse might instantly have blown-have you checked it?
If a fuse blows it is not unheard of for either the plug/socket contact to be badly damaged or the wire in the cable might also have blown, as you say, it experienced a similar element problem last year!

Is a 'supply switch' the big red one at the wall? In which case, yes I believe they are all powered from there. The other oven and the hood are still working fine.

I've checked the new fuse and it seems fine (after being in the oven plug and being turned on.

I've just tried something else in the same socket and it worked fine.

great you now know 99% the problem is on the oven
have you looked at the connections in the plug and at the other end
also replacement fuses can be faulty
but elements blowing can take things[wire connections controls contacts]with them when they blow especially for the second time if weakned before
