Hi All

Need some advice ( non expert, so plain english please!!!)

I have notied to damp batches on my wall, one on an extrenal wall and the other next to the front door on an internal wall. Both these patched are about 10" above the floor level, the one next to the door seems to spread from the door.

However I have an Electric damp proof in place which was installed before i purchased the house, how do i know if its working etc, it has a green light on. Any advice on the damp, could it be riasing damp

Thanks for you help and advice in advance

It looks like that is penetrating damp rather than rising damp.

What is the silicone like on the outside of the door frame?

Electro osmosis damp proof courses are normally very reliable and if the green light on it normally means it is working.

penetrating damp is usually caused by a blockage in the cavity wall allowing damp to travel across the gap (cavity) between the outer and inner brickwork.

This wall is connected to my neighbours, so its an internal wall, should that matter?
( also my neighbours wall on the inside is bone dry

How do I fix it?

The first thing to check is the seal between the door casing and the wall as it is likely that water is penetrating the seal between the two.
