Edging strip is there a gap ?

hi

new to the idea of an edging strip, does one leave a gap between the strip and the tile and grout after wards

Its an alumiuim strip, white tiles.

There's seems to be flat side and a curved inside. Presume gap to both.

I'll be tacking the strip 8ft long to the edge of the wall, not quite straight.

One does not need to leave a gap, But then again........it is up to one's self Wink
