non off the description below applies to the box indeed it says may not have origional packaging in other words may not have a box

any mention off the phone feature can only be misleading

top listing ambiguous at best
middle "description" section completley talks about the phone features "why"

Brand: Apple

my suggestion no confusion

this auction is for an empty box that will fit a NEW Apple iPhone 4S 16GB
it also contains the operating manuals but no phone is included

If the description states that the phone is unlocked and gives the colour, then it must be designed to confuse because this information is not relevant to the box, but to the phone.

Ebay police their sellers very well because bad news online travels very fast. I would be interested to find out what happens here.

but it is unlocked. In that the box is 'unlocked' as it has been opened to remove phone.

He has clearlty stated what it is. unethical for sure but his described correctly.

Not really ure what ebay could do?? The bidding started at 99p it's the people bidding that pushed the price up

Ebay terms and conditions state that you should only describe the item that you are selling. The IPhone box in question is neither black nor Unlocked. It is grey and opened. It was never locked.

Ebay do not like people to have bad experiences on their site because people don't go back and the adverse publicity has a significant impact on sales. They will take action in this case because they have an excellent reputation which is why they are so popular.

But the box is for a black phone, just like the one on the box, if you wanted to put a phone in it, its a box, for a black phone....?

As for unlocked.....

Check out a few other Ebay listing titles, just using the terms to create more views. If they banned every listing that did it, they would probably have half the business they currently have.

My thoughts...... if you don't understand thats a listing for an empty box, chances are you probably didn't understand the rules/t&cs for using the site, so shouldn't be bidding anyway.

If you didn't understand the listing, you probably wouldn't be able to work the phone anyway!!

The listing has is clearly deceptive, because it has deceived more than one person to achieve such a high price for a piece of rubbish.

It states unlocked as the box serial numbers etc relate to a full price unlocked phone from apple store, not a contract phone from O2.

Still, it's a shame for the person buyin it, as it's obviously wrong to pay that amount.

I'd class that as a very misleading listing

I have been caught out a few times recently. Once when I purchased three tubes of forever white silicone, then when I checked the listing after purchasing it said it was clear!
Just to point out that the forever range is available in forever white, forever clear and forever Ivory but these plonkers had listed it as forever white in clear colour but I emailed them immediately and they changed the clear for white.

I then got ripped off when buying a large jubilee clip as it said 4* in the title and description, but it turned out that the 4* is a size ::b
