Getting loads of email that were sent and dated 24 hrs + old
Any ideas why and where they go in that time. _________________ Scruff |

sounds like your email server has been down - unless these emails came from another common server and maybe that has been down?
when the server is down, the emails going to it just hang around in cyberspace (techie terms) and a certain number of retries occur before they get dumped.
If you got the multiple identical emails from the same person, they may have got a message saying the mail could not be delivered and they sent it again ... and again.... and again _________________ If you have a son, DO NOT name him after a verb ....

Not down as I have been getting emails no probs.
Theses are like backdated emails.
Example I have several emails from UHM today, then half a dozen or so from UHM sent/dated yesterday.
And too prove the point, just received an UHM one 19:17 9/9/08 _________________ Scruff |

if there is a communications problem (mail server down for a short time somewhere along the path - maybe it is your server, maybe UHM server, maybe another in the loop?) then any emails sent may be bounced and they get queued for a resend - they do not just sit at the server front door and come in when the server is up - they get resent from the 'depot' as it were, at a preset delay from the time they were sent out last time - which is why it is not that unusual to get emails received out of sequence. _________________ If you have a son, DO NOT name him after a verb ....
