Bluddy love this site, thankyou. Have a problem with toilet cistern - the siphon*(?) continually drips. Have fiddled about with it in a girly way (ahem) but it's still doing it. Advice anyone please?

*the bit of kit from which the water flows when loo is flushed

do you mean the flush pipe ? thats a white pipe from the cistern to the pan , there are 2 joints on it, a nut and cone seal the top and the bottom is a flush cone, its self sealing (or should be )
if its the top, undo nut wrap some ptfe tape round and redo,
if its the bottom, undo the top, and pull out the bottom, get a new flush cone from B+Q/screwfix/toolstation, they're only pence, and refit, ptfe the top and try that,

ooh eck, I was afraid of this, to say I'm not technical is an understatement. However, google to the rescue, as follows - sorry it's so long! According to this diagram, I'm referring to the inlet tube.

ha ha , I see, in that case its the ballvalve, either rewasher or buy a new ballvalve, simple job for a plumber, but things can go wrong for the unsuspecting, if you cross the thread on the plastic inlet, you might wished you never started it,

good luck though

Tks tomplum - can't believe i've just spent 10 minutes attempting to google pictures of the inside of my toilet cistern - to no avail unfortunately! It's a Twyfords, circa 1994. I can post a picture tomorrow if that would help.

hah managed it in the end, tom, a thing of beauty is it not. So it's the blue bit, top right, complete with drop of water leaking out of it!
