Anybody know what the rules might be regarding having mains-fed down-lights in the soffit/register-plate above a log burner?

Just to clarify, I mean the light would be in the recess of the fireplace, shining down over the top of the stove that sits in the recess.

My guess is that it would be a no-no but what does anyone else think?

what are the distances the lights will be from the log burner?
to be honest I can't find anything in the wiring regs for this might be in document b possibly j??

edit: definately not in j

I would have said definitely no.

What's the register plate made of? Is there any void filling above the register plate?

I understand the distance from the stove needs to be 300mm for combustable materials, and this will be maintained. The register plate will be fireboard (GRB I think it's called), and the chimney void would be above

hows about spots set into the hearth away from the fire aiming up to the area you want to illuminate :dunno: :dunno:
