Sometimes when you upload to an image host it automatically resizes them to a thumb size. Check the size when you upload. you want something 500ish pixels wide

Hi Folks

Right then the next steps....building control notified today that work is to commence within 2 days.

My mate is coming round some time this week to help me mark out the required areas so that the digger man can come round hopefully next week and dig the footings out.

Can't wait to get stuck into the dirty work :director: :director: :help: :help: :huray:

Photo's to be added asap...

:-) Updated project thread...

Managed to get the front footings dug out for the porch, need a little fix on the water pipe as some bodger has put lead into plastic and the fit is poor hence the leaking water :wtf:

Part of back wall removed(kitchen) in order to put temp steel work in before we then put the main goal post steel work in to place..

Then also started the long 12 metre footings strip that will hold the gable end up, hopefully :-)

Then friday we had a a nightmare when we tugged the unmarked electric cable, no sand/hardcore tape or nothing :cb , 10 hours later and the neighbours garage floor ripped up  we have electric supply back on :thumbright:

Then to help the project along a little more....down comes the snow, fantastic first week, loving it :hiding:

Evening all

Further progress has been made today, a whopping 14 meters of concrete has been poured into the footings along with plenty of steelwork added to the footings both top and bottom as advised by the BI :huray: of that 14 meters, 7 meters was done by the old fashioned wheel barrow method :wtf: drink required.....
Photos to be uploaded once I buy a new laptop shortly. :cb

Really enjoying this project....

were never asked for footings like that to put mesh in. just fill it with concrete. only mesh if its a raft found.

i guess depends on the area and the bi tho.

worst one we dug was on my best mates dads house. he got us to come in and dig it and he built the extension after we got the concrete in. dug it out with a jcb. it pissed down after work. half the trench colapsed. digger back next day to clear it and dig more. it pised down and more colapsed. then bi came at our request as we didnt want to carry on the dig as it may have become dangerous. he turned up and said hurry. dig it and flood everything with concrete. so we ended up the job taking twice as long because of tree roots. and using twice the amount of concrete.

the building inspector reaconed he had never seen the ground in that particular area behave in the manner it did there. the job was a night mare haha.

Wine~0 Love that laptop tip :thumbright:

Fin.. The footings was a horrid job, Hit the electric, the waste pipe, and the mains water has a leak due to a bodged plastic to lead fitting, soon to be corrected,so nice to get past that part of the job..

Monday and the building work begins, the nice bit :dunno: Hoping the weather holds so we can make good progress, really wanting the build/shell up and watertight within 6 to 8 weeks :-)

Photo's of the footings filled up with a cool 14 meters of concrete to be added shortly....

Thanks for following the project thread...

Walchy
