Looking for some advise on how to go about relacing some double glazed units that the seals have gone( condensation inside the units).
What I would like to know is whats the best way to measure the glass & what other materials do I require& any tips on what not to do.
Cheers.

Are the windows wooden or PVC?
If they are pvc remove the beading, this will be inside on 98% of pvc windows. You can pop the beading off using a wide scraper and hammer, once removed you can measure the window.
Or alternatively if you wish you could get the glazier to come and measure them for you, this could be the safest bet! _________________ DIY | DIY Video |

Or get a mate to lob a brick through when it's dark and claim on your insurance. |

Hi Westies,
Easiest way to measure the units is measure from bead to bead (ie across the glass between the beads) and add 22mm is generally fine.
And check the unit make up ie 4-6-4 etc.
happy glazing

Thanks Borderglazer,
I'm sure it's really simple... but what is the unit make up 4-6-4 ?
Cheers.

Hi,
the make up 4-6-4 means 2 panes of 4mm glass and a 6mm spacer bar between them, you will have to try and estimate the units overall thickness unless you can get the unit out to measure the make up through the sealing on the edge.
Feel free to ask anything else glass or glazing related and ill do my best to answer sensibly
