wba would work on the painted walls for skimming and for dabbing onto if there's no key.

why don't you want to dab the foam boards on?

you can use PVA, Thistle Bond-It or WBA (wickes version of Bond It) on the walls you need to overskim. Bond it and WBA need to be applied the day before skimming, PVA immediately before. 2 Coats, apply skim when the second coat is tacky. for the thermal boards, use Bonding Compound. Lafarge do a Universal compound which is designed to do both normal boards and thermal boards. the day after boarding the walls, you'll need to put some mechanical fixings into the boards incase of a fire.

try these:

thanks for that , will deffo go with wba , i just thought that if i put the bonding adhesive on with a 10 mm grooved float it would give better adhesion overall and not addd too much to the overall thickness of the wall , im sticking the boards to previous skimmed and painted walls ,so ther fairly flat anyway , im doing this because the house has solid 9" brick walls , thanks for the info
