As I said in my previous post, more than likely a bad batch - get another bell from another supplier - ya big ding dong :lol: :wink:

Well, I stripped it all down checked every connection reassembled it and it worked :scratch:

One thing I did notice, and it is a distinct possibility that it was a poor battery connection. When I refitted the battery I saw that as I pushed it into the battery housing it was lifting the connector one end ( a bit like a see-saw) I ensured it was fully connected so this could have been the root cause. I dunno.

Thanks to everyone who offered help and advice and to Someone Else who really went out of his way to solve the mystery.

All this for a cheapo bell. But it is just what we want a nice gentle bing-bong.

oh well at least you fixed it, poor connection - less current, its like having a flat battery, A solenoid needs the current to energize its coil if only momentarily to fire the pin
