I have found one which expires in 2014 so i decided to refrain from buying and ask in this forum. What happens to the liquid after it expires? Will using it be simple ineffective or cause damage?

Boris...in the UK we tend to ignore use by dates..it's oil..it's been in the ground for thousands of years...

Well i saw expiry dates on them here. Maybe because it not only has oil but anti-rust liquid?

i suspect it could be propellant gas escaping meaning its flat :dunno:

It'll be fine, I've used things over a decade out of date. Infact I remember a few years ago finding a rusty old tin of WD40 in the garage and using it on my bike chain, worked fine.

Also, I feel I should point out, thats 3 years away! If you don't use it and it goes flat or something, I think strangely you've got your use out of a £3 can of WD40.

AS someoe pointed out , its sits in the ground milliuons of years. Wha is there to decay or degrade?

I work for a compost company, we sometimes get people asking us if compost has gone of. It obviously escapes them that prior to being put in a bag it sat in a peat bog for about 20,000 years.
