My oh has just suggested that we should learn how to dance, his suggestion the Tango or Salsa. Has anyone been to dance classes, willingly or not or even managed to learn from a dvd lesson?

Salsa is a great dance, I know how to Salsa, originally I bought a DVD showing you, apparently the teacher is quite well known, You can have the CD, I can send it to you.

In the end I took a couple of lessons, but cause I love music anyway, I can hip-hop/street dance a bit as well  lol, I found Salsa so easy.

Its only when I went to Cuba and went to a salsa club, I realised how feeble my Salsa was, but while I was there I learned how to salsa the Cuban way. :-) I was doing salsa nearly every night, I love the beat.

I would love to learn the Cha Cha Cha next, but there isnt any dance places near me, there is, but they are miles away, and by the time I get in from work etc, I just cant facing travelling to the dance club.

Bobbie,

I looked online last night and there's a dvd about how to do "Dirty Salsa" that is on You Tube and also on dvd, no idea what the difference is. If we did Tango, it'd be the proper Argentinian Tango. I just fancy doing the full contact, stuff at the moment not the dancing disco three feet apart! Was Dirty Dancing based on Salsa, I've not seen it for years?

Sounds like you want to learn how to Waltz, Louise!

I will probably have this very slight desire to learn how to Salsa on Friday Night (but that will soon pass) - Off to see a Buena Vista Social Club gig in Plymouth tomorrow

I don't think I fancy the Waltz! I've heard of them but can't think of any songs, I'll have to Google! Enjoy it! :thumbright:

Lou, there is another dance, and its very very naughty, its called 'The Bachata' I think it originally came from from the dominca republic, but the Cubans have adopted it many years ago.
I'll try and find it and send you the link,

Bobbie,

That's where we've been going wrong all these years!
We should have been doing it vertically.

A bit like dirty dancing meets salsa! Doesn't look that difficult to master and a great way to tone the hips at the same time! :thumbright:
