I bought a doce gust coffee machine earlier this week.

I'd had n espresso machine before, but gave up on it because it was a lot of trouble.

This new development uses pods you can buy from Tesco's and it's a doddly to make espresso, cappuchino and several others. And to boot, it's very easy to keep clean.

To sum up, it's the dog's b*llocks.

They look very good, Stoday - what sort of running cost do these have compared to the machines that you put the ground coffee into the container and tamp it down?

Lots of offices seem to have those machines where you put a pre-packaged loose coffee bag into a slot and close the door.

I'm very sure that the running cost is an order of magnitude greater than Hoovie's machine.

That's because it's so easy and fast to use that you make several times as many cups as you otherwise would.

On the other hand, it's a lot cheaper than the bottle of Billecart Salmon Rosé I opened tonight.

Mine wore out last month so I replaced it with the Mk 2 model.

If you let me play with your Tassimo, I'll let you play with my Dolce Gusto...

Can't we find someone with a Nespresso and make it a 3-some?

A threesome would be nice, Kate61, but Nespressos are a bit aloof. They can’t pick up a box of pods in the supermarket like we do, they have to send away for them and buy in bulk.

According to The Independent (click here) Nespresso can be found in the top restaurants associating with very expensive food and booze. I bet they are so posh they wear white cotton gloves to handle their pods and have a special receptacle in which to place their used pods. Not chuck the used pods in the bin like we do.

Actually I don’t throw them straight in the bin because they dribble a bit once they’ve been used. I put them in a poly bag first. Does your Tassimo dribble? My dolce-gusto dribbles unless I remove the pod.

I actually work for Nestle in the first factory in the world to produce Dolce Gusto pods, what's nice about that is that we beat bids, literally, from Nestle factories world wide to get the investment (£75M), and it's in the UK!!

We also make Nescafe instant coffee there aswell as the roast and ground for DG. Personally I'm not to keen on R&G, I prefer less arabica beans, more robusta beans in the blend, it's less bitter. But I'm a bit of a wuss where tastes & flavours come in

I've had seceral goes at the Nespresso, I must admit that those machines look very cool and retro. The mk3 DG machine is now out, quite square and flat.

Martin.
