Watching plastering vids on youtube.

1 presenter has a video about filling board joints but then follows that with a video on how to plaster but the wall in the second vid has not had all joints and screws filled?

Do you need to use joint filler on plaster board or just skim all over with plaster?

Thanks.

If you use tapered edge boards and the direct bond method you can just tape the joints with self adhesive scrim and then fill the joints using Gyproc easi fill.

If you have screwed the boards you may be as well just skimming the whole lot, but you still need to tape the joints with scrim first to prevent them cracking.

I don't know anyone that has screwed the sheets in position and then just taped and filled the joints and filled where the screw heads have been sunk but it could still be an option.

Do it all the time Chez and with square edged boards too. Only time I use tapered is if it's in a commercial environment where we can set out the studs at 600 centers
