looking for any advice as to how difficult a job this would be.
as i intend to attempt to do it myself.

1930s semi detached the living room and dining rooms have been opened up
to make a through room
and door filled in which leads into living room from the hallway.

i would like to put it back to original with two seperate rooms
would i use plasterboard and a frame for it to go on between the rooms and then skim.

i certainly arnt a plasterer but learnt the basics at college and have skimmed the odd room in my house which look good.
any help would be appreciated.

hopefully a few photos will show whats required.

I'd guess that the wall could well be block/brick if its 1930s. In which cases, if you use studwork, you'll probably get some cracking issues with the joints. Therefore I'd probably rebuild it with block and tie it in to the existing opening.

If it is a stud/lath wall, then studwork would be the way to go.

In whichever case I would always get the entire wall plastered both sides as you will never get a perfect joint otherwise. Extra cost would be minimal compared to the finish.
