Hi all,

I am trying to replace the brushes on a Bosch Classix 1200 washing machine. I am having trouble knowing which way round the motor spins to align the slope on the brushes correctly. Can anyone help? I have looked on the motor case but can't seem to see anything.

Thanks

Simon

Just had a look...on spin cycle it rotates anti-clockwise when viewed from the front...

...though according to the Mrs., on wash cycle it alternates???? I wouldn't know about that

We use brushes at work and our motors spin clockwise, brushes are made from carbon so if you install them the wrong way round they will soon bed in and follow the commutator.
Depending on the quality of the carbon sometimes the motor runs a little noiser than normal until the brushes bed in

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. I've got it solved now and have got movement! Well chuffed.

In case there is anyone else with the same problem, take a look at the angle the brushes are to the commutator. The brushes do not go in at right angles. Once you have understood this it is kind of commom sense which way the brushes should go. One brush goes in an opposite way round to the other.

Thanks Cannyfixit. The motor is a little noisy at the moment and I assumed it would take a little while to bed in.
