I've recently replaced my DeWALT D27107 for the DW743N as my old one was far too heavy and took up precious van space, both saws have been fantastic, very acurate, smooth, especially silent and never let me down yet.........until recently.

The only problem with the DW743N so far has been when in use as a table saw. Cuts brilliant when the blade is at 90*, i recently went to set the blade to 45* and was about to switch it on when i noticed the blade was resting on the table! Lucky i noticed, there is no clearance at all and the blade is'nt just touching, it's pressing on it.
The saw is BRAND new and claims to cut at 45*!
Anyone else own one or had any similar problems?

my 742 doesn't do that have you fully tightened the lever at the back??
are you talking mitering [left or right ]or cambering [leaning] at 45 degrees

theres a lever near the spring to restrict saw depth in mitre mode away from 90%

Hey big All, My saw doesn't have that lever. It's supposed to be the new version (2011 apparently)
it's absolutley fine when mitering, it's fine when cambering the mitre saw, just when it's flipped as a table saw. I'll need to read the manual as it does have a max cutting depth while cambered but the blade touches the table edge no matter what depth i set the blade!!!
I thought it might be a common problem as i was on a big job last year where we had a couple of saws set up, one of the other joiners had the older version of my saw and the table was all cut away where the blade had caught it at a 45% angle, same place where mine is touching. I thought buy buying the (apparently) brand new version and buying new instead of used i would avoid any problems like this!!!

ok give me an hour and i will have a look as i have a hangover to work off lol

just a thought my riving knife is removed for cleaning purposes
could that be the difference as in the knife forcing off line
another thought do you set it up whilst its in table mode as the weight off the motor will be pushing in a different direction to chopsaw mode

Is part of the table removeable to give the blade a bit more room?


The small DeWalt mitre saw (don't know the number but it's owned by almost every man and his dog) has some sort of sacrificial block at the back of the blade, I appreciate that it's not the same as the problem here but it does show that some saws will cut bits off of the surrounding areas when used.

(and some that aren't supposed to will do so when used by an apprentice - - and if I see him again.......... ).

ok just been out absolutely fine
at maximum depth the motor housing touches the supporting frame work have you tried stopping 12mm short on depth??
because if you go to maximum depth any slack in the clamp allows the saw to go slightly to far and off parallel as you tighten the clamp instead off pulling parallel it twists on the motor housing throwing it off line

have tried setting at minnimum depth and it still touched!
Done a couple of mitres yesterday and it was absolutley fine (mitre saw mode)
What you said about weight transfer makes a lot sense, i will try setting it up differently today and if that doesnt work.............

wasnt to bad as i tend to pace myself

my suggestion is to loosen enough so it wont move on its own weight but will move with a minimum push so it will be fully supported whilst moving

i managed to get it touching on one occasion but every occasion apart from that was bang on the middle give or take 1mm
