Also Screwfix have a deal on a DeWalt XRP 18V cordless drill - very good drill and a great deal:

yes all new tools and batteries fit old tools and batteries
although having said that i have an old drill [about 15 years old ] where i would need to shave a bit from the housing where the battery goes lol

the charges are battery specific but backwards compatable as in
new chargers will charge old batteries but old chargers wont
