The place I have moved in to has a Bosch dishwasher and it has something in the water supply pipe that I'm puzzled by.

I suspect it might be something to do with water softening, but it's an area of very soft water and anyway the dishwasher has a chamber in the bottom where salt is meant to go

It's a device to prevent leaks. Bosch call it an Aquastop

It's a solenoid valve that controls the flow of water, Don't worry it's supposed to be there :wink:

I've got one on my dishwasher (siemens Bosch) it stops the water flow if there there is a leak.
