good job your decking is 1m wide and 16m long otherwise youd need even more for overlaps

well the wood has arrived, the 4x4 posts have been treated. The 6x2 is graded wood and the guy told me it will be ok, but should this be treated too?

stealth i dont like treating the 6x2 myself as it is not tanalised. the preserver you aplly yourself will last nowhere near as long as tanalised timber and remember you cant apply a fresh coat every couple of years due to access.
6x2 tanalised joists is a must imo.

no tanilising if a pressure treating treatment and I dont know how it would work now you have put preserver on it,

what preserver have you used. how much timber have you bought?

I am surprised anyone would sell non tanilised timber for a decking project.

I for one wouldnt want to guarantee how it will last

I bought just the outer frame and 3 internal joists, with another 8 to be bought and fitted next week.....

I have used some preserver that I used on the fence panels we have, and they still look like new two years on.......

I have been applying end grain preserver to the ends, would it be of any benefit to give the joists a coat of that (Sorry if thats a dumb question), as I have loads left after doing all me posts...

You could get them tanilised, ask your local timber merchant for info on who in the area can do it for you. I have no idea what it will cost though!
