When you finally achieve the home of your dreams, it must be heartbreaking to have to give it up long before you intended.

In the Yahoo group post where he explained that a job offer came up that he couldn't refuse, he mentioned that a few odds and ends needed finishing, I expect the pond is one. The new owner may have little children so the pond would have to go anyway.

I would very quickly get bored looking at all that knotty pine, and WTF is a gourmet kitchen?

According to them it looks like it's never been used....according to me it looks like this (Lamb shank Madras stylie, Naan, pilau rice, and a cucumber raita...all homemade hence the mess....)

Not the sort of kitchen I'd choose.

What on earth is that thing sticking out of the wall above the hob (photo 2)?

Is it a gas lamp?

Hi Mooncat -

I am the owner that built this log home and is currently trying to sell. It is heartbreaking to have to leave a dream that I have had since high school but I can at least say that I did build it and got to live for the most part 7 years in it. Unfortunately, work is causing me to sell.

Ayjay - Log homes are certainly not for everyone. For someone that loves nature and works with wood as a hobby it is wonderful. Just walking in you can smell the wood. However, that is why there are so many types of homes. Thanks for looking though.

Stoday - That thing coming out of the wall is what we in America call a faucet. Cold water spout so that you do not have to carry heavy pots of water to the stove and you can also add water without taking off of heat. What is a hob?

Wine~0 - I appreciate what you call a gourmet kitchen. Buyers in America like to see "unused/new" when looking at photos of a home to buy.

Thanks everyone for looking. I found your site from the web matrix/tracking that I am running on my for sale site.

If anyone has any questions that you would like to ask don't hesitate to shoot me an email.

Hi codeslinger,

This is the kind of house I want for my next and last home. Having owned and occupied a selection of new and old houses, all built when fuel was cheap/plentiful and when people were satisfied with cold and draughty houses, I want a cosy Scandinavian wooden house. I have stayed in one several times, and appreciate the look, feel, and scent of wood. But first I have to get my 18th century stone and block cottage sold.

The hob is the part of a cooker with the burners/hotplates, nowadays often built as a separate unit to the oven(s) and installed in pre-built cabinets.

I joined the log-home group although most members are in North America, though wooden houses are popular in many parts of Europe.
