We have some salts coming through on 5 month old plaster which is in the process of drying out following tanking (dampproofer reckons it could take another 4 based on 1 inch per month)

In terms of patching it up so it doesn't look like an eyesore for the next 4 month is it worth applying dampproof paint or should we just let nature take its course?

It would be good to do something to make it look better but I'm thinking it would act as a barrier when we need to let the moisture and salts out?

It also started happening a few weeks ago on an area of wall which was NOT tanked so it seems like there might be a separate damp problem, possibly condensation in this cold weather.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks

Alex

So you have had some walls tanked and then you have had them re-plastered, is that correct?

If you have I would just leave it to be honest until it is 100% dry.

You could always use a paint which will still allow it to dry out - painting new plaster
