We have been advised to install a damp proof course in two chimneys on our house to get rid of rain related damp problems on our bedroom walls. This involves demolition of the chimneys to flashing level, installing dpc and rebuilding chimneys. As i understand it, the dpc follows the shape of the flashing, it will be bent up on the inside and will have drain holes to dispose of moisture. My concerns are, 1, will it work as it is a very expensive job. 2, will the chimney still be safe in high winds. Any advice would be greatfully recieved. Orphean.
