We have a damp problem in our kitchen on the wall that divides us us and our neighbours. The damp is approx 4 ft up the wall in random blotchy shapes, I have pulled a patch of plaster off and the damp shapes are caused by the dot 'n' dab that holds the plaster board on to the previous plaster, which is also damp and soft. My neighbour has the same problem, at the same height.
The wall outside is always wet as the sun never reaches the area to dry it out.
Could the damp be penetrating from the brick wall that divides our drives? As this is the height where the damp is?

Ignore the wetness at the bottom of the walls, this is from where I had the paint sand blasted off the wall.

Hi Digger,

Is the wall 'keyed' into the rear of the building, or is there a gap between them?

Im not sure what keyed means, but it is built in. IE, I couldnt knock the wall down without taking some bricks out the house wall. There is no gap between the wall and house.

Hi Digger,

Looks like staining on the house wall above the dividing wall! Can you get hold of a damp meter? If water is bridging the dividing wall, it should be damper inside nearest to the wall.

Digger,

You need to find out exactly what the problem is first, hence my suggestion of a damp meter.
