Hi
I'd appreciate any opinions on this problem.
I've lived in my 1930s brick built end terrace for about eight years. Before I moved in - probably some years before - there must have been a damp problem because the floors had been concreted and about 18" of new plastering done at the bottom of walls on the ground floor. There are holes in the bricks outside that indicate that a damp proofing chemical has been injected at some time.
The thing is I've every now and then noticed a small pile of dust/debris below one of the radiators on the end wall. Today is the day I finally got round to removing the radiator to have a look. What I've found is that the bottom 18", the new plaster, appears to be sound but a patch of old plaster above it, about two foot wide by 1 foot high, is very crumbly. Is there any possibility that there is still a
rising damp problem, which hasn't got into the new plaster yet but is still affecting the older stuff above, or is it just that when the repairs were done they didn't chop out all of the damp plaster?
Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers!
