Hello All!
I'm redecorating my quite small bathroom and having removed all of the tiles (roughly the lower half of all the walls) there is some damage to the plasterboard on 2 walls. There are 5 sections approx 3 by 4 inches where some of the plaster has broken and come out and 2 slightly larger areas close to the floor where all the plaster has fallen out and the back of the plasterboard is visible. There is also some movement in this part of the board if you press it. I have had 3 plasterers round to give quotes - one said new plasterboard needs to be put up, one said it may be possible to patch the damage up and one said it was no problem and it would just need some 'bonding'!!

Who is correct? I guess it's difficult to tell without seeing it but are the any clear rules on this? I obviously want it to look perfect when finished.

Thanks

It is hard to say without seeing it.

If the walls are brick behind the plasterboard then Bonding should be ok.

Did all three quote a similar price?

There is no brick wall behind. I'm pretty sure it's plasterboard on a stud frame. All 3 quoted to within £10 of each other!

If its a studded wall the best way to deal with the problem and get a perfect job done is to remove all damaged plasterboard and restud and tile no need to plaster if only tiles being placed on new plasterboard
