Hi. I am about to lay a floor with 1 1/4" thick old quarries this weekend. Can anybody tell me what is the best way to cut them?
I thought that maybe I'd use one of those wet cutters available from the hire shops. Is that the best bit of kit? Cheers. |

A diamond wet cutter will probably be your best bet, you can buy small ones cheaply but I think they may struggle with tiles that are so thick adn hiring is probably the best option.

| Thanks for that. I hired one a few years ago to do a kitchen with 10mm thick tiles. It went through them like butter. Hopefully I will get the same results with my quarries. |

you can buy a cheap wet cutter from B&Q for about £30
i used one regularly for about two years till I broke it by treading on it

I hired a wet cutter at the weekend. Only £40 for the week which is just as well because by the time I collected the tiles on Saturday and started putting them down yesterday I haven't actually cut one yet!
Thought I'd do all the whole tiles first and the bits last. Pity I didn't think of that until after I hired the cutter. Ha.

| for the straight cuts you could scribe the the face of the quarry then gently tap the back of the tile along the scribe this will break the tile along the scribe very easily |
