I have got 120, 12mm screwed rods to cut close to the nut and cap with plastic covers, don,t want to hacksaw as would take forever, can,t really cut off with grinder as too much glass around, was just wondering is there any kind of bolt croppers capable of cutting these rods close to the nut.

We always use a 5" grinder, carefull aim of the sparks, and a helper to hold a shield does the job.

I guess bolt crops would work, obviously the cut will be above the top of the nut a bit, but usually the plastic caps have about 8-10mm of room for exposed studding.

Sounds like an ideal job for the Fein or similar multisaw.

Way past the limits even for the fein Scruff. It's not so much the tool more the blades I reckon you'd be lucky to cut 4 studs with one bimetal blade. At a tenner each that'd hurt

Either hire a stud cutter or use a grinder but I'd get the apprentice to do it with a hacksaw

A jigsaw will be neigh on impossible I reckon. I gather the studs are in position, through a fixing plate of similar?

Carefull use of a grinder, we do it all the time, did loads of welding and grinding on some beams 6" away from glass panels. Typical Mansell balls up

A few big sheets of card and careful aim works a treat.

Use wet rag or sheet and all your grinder dust will stick to that.
