Hi :hello2:

I have never cross lined my walls before, usually just put up lining paper and paint. How do I cross line? Is it best to put up paper horizontally first? Or is there another way to do it?

Thank you.

That's what cross lining means.

You paper the wall with lining paper horizontally prior to putting up the pretty stuff vertically.

Get a lining paper that you can roll the paste onto the walls rather than the paper :thumbright:

What i normally do is measure down from the ceiling 21 to 20 inch snap a clalk line across and follow that line and not the ceiling line as they can be way out. If they are long walls another pair of hands might come in helpful good video tho

Thanks for your replies everyone :thumbleft:

I won't be using "pretty stuff" just lining paper to paint.

I didn't know you could get lining paper where you paste the walls first, I like that idea, thanks upagumtree :thumbleft: Hopefully they stock it in my local B&Q
Thanks for the link too.

Wallrock is the stuff to get, a bit pricey compared to normal lining paper but on 20mt rolls and available in three widths 55,75 and 100 so you can measure your height and buy whichever size suits your needs. You can paste the wall or the paper but pasting the wall is soooo much easier :thumbright:

You won't get this at any of the sheds AFAIK, try your deccy merchant

Hi upagumtree, I have seen Wallrock, it was in Brewers. If I used that I wouldn't need to cross line would I? Think you have to use ready mixed paste.

Are you painting over the paper ? if so then you wouldn't need to cross the paper, wallrock supply a ready mixed adhesive .

You cross hang the paper to avoid having two seams running vertically too close to one another if you are hanging a finish paper over it.

Yes we are painting over the paper. So if we are just painting the paper no need to cross.
Thanks :thumbleft:
